What genre is this? How would you describe Nein's Vibe? What kind of music do you play? These are the questions i get asked the most, this compilation 'Techno But Not Techno' is the best genre but not genre i could come up with. It's the bastard love child of Belgium New Beat and Cosmic disco, is it gabba for the older generation, i can't say, but i know that from Lithuania to Mexico and all stops in between, a sound started to emerge from the wreckage of Blog house and that 99th disco edit of an edit of edit, slower BPM's and darker vibes, that sense of being lost in the smoke and lasers, a sound encompassing flotsam and jetsam of post punk, acid House, breakbeat and dark techno.
In truth Nein Records has no Genre..I never wanted it to have one, I can't remember who said "never trust a dj who plays only one genre" but that phrase holds true for labels as well. From Italo infused disco from the Netherlands to dark techno from Argentina...the only defining characteristic throughout is a dark energy...a sense of 'wrongness', that feeling of 'is that the record or did the drugs just kick in'....the rest i'll leave up to you to categorize.
